The Wedding

I woke up to birds chirping from outside my window. The sun shown through the shades and spread warmth inside my bedroom. I awoke with anticipation of the day. This day that I had long been waiting for. It was finally here, today was my wedding day...

The Rehearsal

We had had a count down going since we had gotten engaged. We started in the triple digits and slowly moved to the double digits but we were now finally in the single digits. I had begun packing for our honeymoon. We had gathered all of the decorations for the wedding and gone over the checklist hundreds of times. All that was left to do was to watch it all unfold.

Answered Prayer

The days were getting longer but the countdown was soon to be in the single digits. We were about a month away from the wedding. It was a hot summer. I was drained working 8 hours a day. B was doing tree work for his uncle, still looking for a full time job—you know to support us when we were married.

Rock Bottom

At this point in time I was finishing my sophomore year of college and B was taking criminal justice classes from a local university. He was looking for a job, you know cause we were getting married in SIX months.

An Unexpected Purchase

I picked ones that I liked from the racks and the girls tried on the dresses. This time, I got to sit back and watch. The dresses were very beautiful! I loved the idea of having one color with different style dresses or even one dress with different colors. My Pinterest visions were coming to life before my very eyes!

My Journey to the Perfect Dress

Some people say that you will know when you find the right dress. Well it wasn't me that knew. Maddie, B's momma and my aunt were all aware of the look on my face, apparently it had changed with this dress. I didn't recognize a change, though I did like this dress a lot. I stood in front this mirror and really imagined myself getting married in this dress.

Finding the Right Venue

Trying to find the perfect place to get married at is hard. There are a lot of places out there that are too small, too expensive or just not right. This is our story of how we found the perfect venue for our wedding!

And She Said Yes

Now I had felt for a long while that God wanted Sarah and I to get married earlier than most couples do. I can’t explain how, but I felt a strong conviction. I knew it with every bone in my body… God wanted us to get married in 2014. So I had to answer a question within my own soul before I could propose to Sarah.

And He Got Down on One Knee

My dad says there are actually three sides to every story, what you remember, what they remember and what really happened.  For this story we are going to be looking at two of the sides, what I remember and what B remembers. Today is my side of things and tomorrow B will sharing his side!!  Without further adieu, our engagement:

A Leap of Faith

We seemed crazy to the world, down right stupid. Young crazy, uncontrolled love. Our craziness attracted a lot of opposition. We had no answers, just reasons. We had no plan, just a conviction. We felt alone. At a time in our lives meant to be joyful, we felt distressed. When we were meant to feel hopeful, we felt hopeless. Our friends and family thought we were nuts and urged us to reconsider, to wait.

A Good Old Country Song

It was the summer of all summers, like the one all country songs sing about. At least it felt that way. We were young and carefree. B was working for the county, fixing roads and I was volunteering most of the summer. We spent lazy days just getting to know each other.

The Friend Zone

At that point I would run. Not literally, though I was known to physically avoid people. I would just put up walls. I didn’t really know why I did it, other than I was afraid things were going too fast. I liked things the way they were, as friends. It could have turned into something more, but to be honest, no guy ever waited long enough. Once they realized they were in the “friend zone” they moved on and I was left with a lot of guys that were friends but no potential boyfriends.

How It All Began

So B and I get asked all the time, “How long have you guys known each other?” I think it’s because we seem much older than we actually are or maybe because we look younger than we are, or because we are married. I don’t really know, but we get asked all the time.

Anyway, so when someone asks us, we tell them our story. So here you go. Grab a nice beverage and a blanket because it's story time. Sit back and enjoy!
